Dr. Markanday Ahuja is an eye surgeon, has headed four universities as Vice- Chancellor for more than 12 years.Presently Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Vision Eye Hospital Rohtak. He did his MBBS, MS from PGIMS Rohtak and hastwo doctorates one in Hospital Management and another is Spiritual Management. He started his career as eye surgeon in Baba Mast Nath Eye Hospital. He has completed 28 years of service with over 2.5 Lacs surgeriesunder his belt and more than 28 Lacs treated as outdoor patients. Turning that hospital into University was his Vision and Mission. He did the impossible; possible with all elegance and prevailing norms and served it for two terms as Vice-Chancellor.

Dr. Ahuja is an excellent orator, avid reader and meticulous writer. He has written over 20 books. Out of these books Eye Care, Jeewan Prabandhan &Swami Vivekananda, Vyakti Nirmaan and Naitik Mulye evam Charitra Nirmaan areveryfamous.Recently2ofhisbookshavebeenpublishedbyHaryanaSahitya Academy and one book has been published by Haryana Granth Academy. His Book on self management and Geeta has been released in Parliament of London andhisbookon‘LifeSkillsfromGita’wasreleasedinInternational Gita Mahotsav at Sydney Australia. He has written more than 500 articles in various national and international journals and magazines. He has shown his active participation in social works. Such as blood donation, eye donation, save girl child, save environment, drug de-addiction and much more. Till now he himself has donated blood 90 times at the age of 60.

He has been bestowed the award of best social worker by Haryana State Social welfaredepartmentin2015andhas alsobeenawardedbyGovernorHaryanafor outstanding social work in 2016.In July 2019 he has been awarded “Sahitya Shiromani Award” by Indian High Commissioner in Canada. He has done a course on “Hinduism” from Harvard University andalso done a course on “Philosophy, Science and Religon” from Edinburgh University.

Currently, he is also doing a daily dialogue on Geeta with Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj which is telecastfive days a week. He has delivered lectures in more than 1300 National and Inter-National institutions and is founder of Vision-MarkandaySociety – a charitable organization looking after the welfare especially eye care of poor, downtrodden and marginalized in the society. Currently he is also translating Gita into simple poetry and two out of nine volumes have been published.
